Cellular Imaging

Research

The central aim of our group is to establish suitable single cell techniques and the application of the most diverse microscopic methods for the description of cellular signal transduction. Microscopic methods such as FRET (Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer) or FRAP (Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching) are of central importance in our work. In addition, we examine the use of different caging compounds in connection with intracellular Ca2+ measurements under the aspect of the UV- and/or IR-irradiation for the process of uncaging.

The facility offers a range of conventional and advanced light and electron microscopic methods as well as electrophysiology to all interested research groups in the institute. The group is available for all types of collaboration including advice in preparation techniques-, and the processing of common research projects.
