Membrane Traffic and Cell Motility (Tanja Maritzen)


Endocytosis and intracellular membrane transport are fundamental processes underlying numerous cellular functions ranging from nutrient uptake and communication between nerve cells to cellular motility. By employing cell biological and optical techniques in conjunction with mouse genetics our group dissects the role of scaffold and adaptor proteins in endocytic sorting and endosomal membrane traffic. We are especially interested in understanding the coordinated interplay between membrane transport and cytoskeletal dynamics and its role in regulating cellular motility.
