Useful Information when moving to Berlin

The information provided covers things to do before you arrive (visa, health insurance, accommodation), things to do on arrival (registration, taxes, bank account), and after you arrive (housing, utilities, insurances, childcare, language courses, transport).

Ombudsperson

Contact persons:
Many problems can be solved if you know the right contact persons.

  • If you have questions about good scientific practice, observe scientific misconduct or have problems with your supervisor, you can turn to the ombudspersons in confidence (see below)
  • If conflicts of any kind arise that you cannot resolve yourself or if you have questions about employment contracts, the works council is also a point of contact for you.(You will find the works council in the FMP-Intranet)
