Scientific Training
Each PhD student is required to participate in seminars at the FMP. These seminars include:
- Marthe Vogt seminars
- Work-in-progress talks
- Seminars of the sections (Bereichsseminare)
- Group meetings
In addition each PhD student should present his/her research once in front of a larger audience at the FMP or at a conference. Financial support for participation in a conference is given by the graduate school (see benefits). The student collects confirmation of participation plus an abstract of the talk or a copy of the poster in his booklet.
The participation of the PhD student in FMP seminars or conferences is confirmed upon completion of his PhD by his/her thesis advisor.
The participation in the FMP Winter School (every 2nd year) and at least one FMP/MDC retreat is mandatory.
Other Activities
The FMP Graduate School strongly depends on participation and additional commitment from its members. The PhD students are encouraged to contribute as PhD representatives or at FMP-related events (e.g. Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften, Girls’ Day, Organization of the FMP Winter School or FMP/MDC retreat etc.).
